Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector (PTLLS)

Introduction
NCFE Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) has been developed by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) in response to the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector. The award has been endorsed by Standards Verification UK (SVUK).

The Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector is appropriate for all new entrants to teaching in the lifelong learning sector or for those who are required to achieve a recognised teaching status as defined in the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Programme Content
This qualification aims to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding required for teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector.
The objectives of the qualification are to help learners to:

• understand the roles and responsibilities of the teacher
• understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches within a specialist area
• plan, deliver and evaluate a micro-teach session
• understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping

Entry Requirements
The qualification is appropriate for all new entrants to teaching in the lifelong learning sector or for those who are required to achieve a recognised teaching status as defined in the New Overarching Professional Standards for Teachers, Tutors and Trainers in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

The qualification will be taken by all teachers, in a full or associate role. Learners should normally hold at least a minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent in their own area of specialism before beginning this qualification.

Progression
On completion of this qualification candidates may progress into employment or to a University in PGCE.
