Learning Resources
IS has made substantial investment in the range of its student facilities and the college currently provides for continuous enhancement. Students have access to computers networked together with a high speed Internet Connection; there is a full range of library facilities and equipment including printers, CD ROMs, photocopiers, and audiovisual technology. These support the additional specialist resources which are provided for the student’s chosen area of study.

Medical Care
studying at IS are covered by NHS (National Health Service), available to them free of charge. There are also many private healthcare schemes; however, these have to be purchased in the form of insurance. Students should be aware that if their course lasts less than six months and their country of origin has no reciprocal health care agreement with the UK, they will need to take out private health insurance to cover the cost of any treatment, as they will not be covered under the NHS.

Council Tax
Full time registered students (with a few exceptions) are eligible for exemption from Council Tax, but they are not allowed to claim Council Tax Benefit, which is a public fund.

Part-Time Work
If you are from a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) you can work in the UK without permission. If you are a non-EEA resident and are on a course longer than six months, you should be able to work up to twenty hours per week.
